WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS
DOMESTIC WASTEWATER TREATMENT
Domestic wastewater is commonly generated in residential areas and is primarily derived from domestic activities and the daily lives of people in service sectors such as schools, hospitals, and hotels. Domestic wastewater is treated through biological treatment processes. Through Biological Treatment: Organic substances present in wastewater are converted into carbon dioxide, water, and new microbial cells with the assistance of microorganisms.
Biological treatment systems can be classified in various ways based on the presence of oxygen in the environment.
Our company, in this context, constructs aerobic (with oxygen) and anaerobic (without oxygen) systems, classifying them according to the availability of oxygen in the environment and considering the status of microorganisms used in the system, including suspended and fixed-film (biofilm) processes.
These processes include wastewater treatment methods such as the Activated Sludge System and Modifications, Biofilm Processes, Stabilization Ponds, and Extended Aeration Biological Treatment Processes.
INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT
Industrial wastewater is obtained from areas where any commercial or industrial activities are carried out, excluding domestic wastewater and rainwater. Industrial wastewater exhibits significant variations depending on the type of industry and the desired raw materials.
Some industrial wastewaters may have high organic content, being easily biodegradable, while others may have excessive inorganic content or possess toxic characteristics. Wastewaters within this scope can be highly hazardous, requiring the selection of the most appropriate treatment method according to the project. Chemical Treatment Processes, Biological Treatment Processes, MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) Processes, and, if necessary, Advanced Oxidation Processes can be integrated comprehensively for such types of wastewaters.
FLUE GAS TREATMENT SYSTEMS
We provide customized designs for the treatment of flue gas emissions originating from industrial facilities. Within the scope of the Industrial Source Air Pollution Control Regulation, we implement technologies specified in BAT (Best Available Techniques) documents in compliance with standards.
In flue gas treatment systems, engineering calculations and the characterization of the gas play a crucial role.
After determining the content and levels of pollutants in the gas, we carry out detailed engineering studies to design and implement processes tailored to your company. In special cases, we collaborate with competent academic personnel from relevant university departments in our advisory team to generate cost-effective solutions.
VOC Removal System
VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Removal System
The control and elimination of VOC components are carried out by FORECO Engineering using reactive chemical scrubbing solutions (VOC Sorbent Solution). In this process, all VOC components are neutralized through chemical reactions. The operational steps for the relevant facility are outlined below:

The VOC-laden air flow exiting the chimneys of the washing units is merged into a single channel and transferred to the VOC Removal System.

As the chemical vapors are carried upward through packed columns, they encounter chemical solutions sprayed from above in a counter-current flow over the packing materials. The vapors react at every point within the packed column.

As a result of these reactions, the chemical vapors are reduced to harmless components. The remaining gas-phase components also react with the appropriate reagents in the same solution.

Certain chemical vapors that cannot react, condense, dissolve in the solution, or that may desorb from the circulating (sprayed) chemical solution, are transferred from the scrubber system to filter cabinets. There, they are controlled by the filter materials through both physical adsorption and chemical reactions on reactive filter materials.

To prevent the risk of exothermic reactions in the filter materials due to the partially cleaned air, this air is diluted with atmospheric clean air through a dilution stack before entering the filter units.
In this way, the VOC-laden air passing through the VOC Removal System is cleaned and discharged into the atmosphere as purified air.
DRINKING WATER AND PROCESS WATER TREATMENT
It is possible to categorize the desired and undesirable properties of drinking and utility water into five groups.
a) Water should be odorless, colorless, clear, and have a refreshing taste.
b) Water should not contain disease-causing microorganisms.
c) There should be no harmful chemicals in the water that could affect health.
d) Water should be suitable for its intended use.
Among the technologies we employ are Clarification - Softening - Lamellar Precipitation, Pressurized or Gravity Rapid Sand Filtration, Slow Sand Filtration, Oxidation/Filtration for Iron and Manganese Removal in Groundwater, Zeolite Filtration, Ion Exchange for Softening Hard Water, Lime/Soda Methods; and for disinfection, methods such as Chlorination, Ozonation, and Ultraviolet Treatment are utilized.
Desalination
Desalination Processes aimed at obtaining water for drinking, irrigation, and general use by removing salt, minerals, and other impurities present in water are generally referred to as desalination processes. These processes include methods such as Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration, etc., and are comprehensively provided by our company.

3. ODOR TREATMENT SYSTEM WITH PHOTONIZATION METHOD
Systems that operate on the principle of using ultraviolet rays at specific wavelengths to break down and oxidize odor-producing chemical substances.
The reaction begins with the fragmentation and oxidation of these substances and is completed on a catalytic surface area. These systems are designed through intensive engineering work and are implemented with necessary controls.

OZONE SYSTEMS
USE OF OZONE IN WASTEWATER REMOVAL
Removing wastewater with ozone is an extremely effective method.
Today, it is used in many countries around the world. Producing usable water from seawater in homes and making sewage water usable with ozone are actively used methods.
DRINKING WATER FOR GENERAL USE
Ozone has an exceptionally high oxidation power and is recognized as one of the most potent disinfectants.
Its high oxidation capability is highly effective in eliminating bacteria. Applying ozone to water for a duration of 4 to 10 minutes is sufficient for water disinfection. Due to the small size of viruses, they form parasitic biological clusters, making it impossible to capture them with bacterial filters.
Depending on the water's condition, providing ozone at concentrations between 0.1 and 0.5 mg/L is adequate to kill bacteria by 99.99%. Ozone exhibits its biocidal effect, especially when water is present in the environment. The biocidal effect of ozone is widely utilized in the disinfection of drinking water. With 2 mg/L of ozone in water, the live microorganism count decreases by 99% within a few minutes. Moreover, ozone has a lethal effect on pathogenic viruses.
Ozone application for drinking and utility water has been a long-standing method in our country, approved by the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) and published in standard TS EN 1278. In many countries worldwide, ozone is used for sterilizing drinking water and in all companies producing bottled water. The main reason for using ozone in drinking
water sterilization is its ability to quickly and effectively disinfect, followed by its conversion to oxygen and leaving no residues.
The ozone system widely used in our country involves applying ozone to water in a reaction tank using a venturi system, ensuring the highest level of ozone mixing, completing the required contact time, and obtaining high-quality and safe drinking water. In 1982, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) declaration for ozone, endorsing its safety for use in drinking water and bottled water production.

According to the provision in the third paragraph of the 4th article of the “Water Pollution Control Regulation Sampling and Analysis Methods Communiqué”, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 10.10.2009 and numbered 27372 and entered into force (amended by the Communiqué published in the Official Gazette dated 13.11.2010 and numbered 27758), real-time remote wastewater monitoring stations must be installed at the outlets of treatment plants with a flow rate of 10,000 m3/day and above. These stations, which are built by us, make instant measurements throughout Turkey and send this data to the Ministry’s servers instantly.

Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
Devices installed in 19-inch rack cabinets or industrial-type panels perform either extractive or in-situ measurements, and thanks to their modular structure, they can be adapted for all types of applications. These systems are used for online emission measurements and process gas analysis in accordance with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization's Regulation on the Control of Air Pollution from Industrial Sources. They provide continuous measurements as required by legislation and allow for reporting in printed format (via software or recording devices).
All our products comply with the CEMS regulations and hold QAL1 certification, meeting the requirements of KGS-2 and KGS-3 processes.
